Writing Contest

Calling all scientists, storytellers, and students!

Do you have a story to tell about water? Wyoming EPSCoR is accepting submissions for the third Communicating about Water (CAW) Essay Contest.

The winning students (undergraduate and graduate) will receive $500 scholarship and publication in Wyoming EPSCoR’s bi-annual publication, “Connections.”

Deadline: Friday April 21, 2017 at 5 pm

Essay Theme: “Carving Out a Sense of Place”

Procedures for Undergraduate Students:
Eligibility: Any undergraduate student enrolled at the University of Wyoming Word Limit: 350-600 words

Procedures for Graduate Students (Masters or PhD):
Eligibility: Any graduate student enrolled at the University of Wyoming Word Limit: 600-1000 words

Submission Guidelines: Submissions in doc or docx file format must be uploaded to https://form.jotform.com/EPSCoR/2017-caw-essay-contest with a cover page that has your W#, essay titles, and student category listed. Do not list your name anywhere on the essay or file name as essays will be judged anonymously.

About The Author

I'm a faculty member in Communication & Journalism at the University of Wyoming. At UW, I have taught online journalism, advanced new media, introduction to mass media, politics and media, and alternative media. At Ohio State, where I got my PhD, I taught research methods, news reporting and writing, visual communication, and persuasion. My reserach focuses on political communication, emerging media platforms, and entertainment media. In my spare time, I love to play with my daughters, hang out with my family, cook, hike, jog, read, and blog.
